My birthday is coming up soon and I'm being difficult this year and insisting on keeping gifts to a minimum (I never thought I'd say it but I don't really need/want anything at the moment - I know, what is wrong with me?!?). But what I wouldn't mind is a CUPCAKE!

Now, I refuse to believe it but The New York Times thinks the cupcake is going the way of the donut - ie, out of fashion. The Kitchn has proffered suggestions of other tasty treats that might become the next big thing - marshmallows, brownies, caramels, pudding - but I'm a bit skeptical. In my eyes...err, tastebuds...nothing can replace a visually pleasing and delectable cupcake.

What do you think? Yay or nay for the future of the cupcake?

Yummy :) I love cupcakes and I would say by the long lines outside Sprinkles in LA...the cupcake is not going out of fashion :)
