Lest you think I am stuck in last century, there are some current "It-girls" whose style I do admire. At the top of the list are:
Rachel Bilson
She can do no wrong fashion-wise (her choice of movie roles is a different matter). Ms Bilson manages to throw eclectic pieces together and make it look effortlessly chic.
Jessica Alba
The new mom is always perfectly coiffed and demurely dressed. I guess it helps when you are that genetically blessed!
The Gossip Girls
TV darlings Leighton Meester and Blake Lively on the popular CW show are this generation's Carrie Bradshaw. The over-the-top outfits are an inextricable part of their characters' personalities, from the prim and proper headbands and blazers favored by Blair Waldorf to the tragic indie muse dresses and boots showcased by Serena van der Woodsen. The New York Times recently ran an article observing that the show's fans tune in for the fashion as much as for the plotlines.
